Casting for Care

Turning tides toward healing

A foundation for offshore fishermen who get hurt doing the work, and for the families left holding everything together while they heal. Jack sits on its board.

Casting for Care is a community of fishermen, families, businesses, and supporters united by one belief: when someone in our fishing family is hurt, we all have a responsibility to help.

Casting for Care

Why it exists

The gap nobody plans for

Offshore fishing carries real risk. A sudden wave, a mechanical failure, heavy gear: one accident can leave a fisherman seriously injured and unable to work for months.

Insurance may cover some of the medical care. It rarely replaces the lost income, and it does nothing for the everyday bills a family still has to meet while someone heals.

The foundation was started after a single offshore accident, when it became clear there was no organization dedicated to helping injured fishermen through exactly that gap.

Where we come into it

Jack sits on the board

Board member, Casting for Care

Jack sits on the board of Casting for Care. He also built them a rod: pink, the Tiki Rods name down the blank, made for the same reason everything else on this bench gets made, which is that somebody in the fishing community needed something done properly.

If you want to help, help them directly. Everything below goes to the foundation, not to us.
